Movievision take ChamSys MagicQ on the road in South Africa!
Movievision recently embarked on their very first road show as an alternative to exhibiting at Mediatech 2011.
Movievision decided that with the launch of their two new brands ( D.T.S-Moving Heads and ChamSys – Lighting Consoles), it would be far more beneficial to target the specific end users of the product instead, of being confined to a few days at the tradeshow. We were joined on the road show, by Thomas Taddei from D.T.S and the software director, Chris Kennedy from ChamSys)
Movievision got off to a great start in Durban on the 23rd May, at the very impressive ‘Docklands Hotel’. We were extremely surprised at the industry turnout, as previously, we did not have a big client base in Kwa-Zulu Natal, but seemingly overnight this has changed.
Three days later we moved to The Peninsula Hotel in Cape Town. Movievision co-hosted with the Filmmakers Guide at their monthly wrap party. The weather was perfect, the turnout, the highest ever at a wrap party and for the very first time, the outside of the hotel changed colours throughout the night. This was achieved with one light and one light only, - the new D.T.S DELTA 10 R Zoom, the brightest LED colour changer in its category with 5000 Lux at 5m (15°).
Management and staff at the hotel as well as all the guests were awe-struck.
The next day, we held an open day at Southern Lighting’s Mai Studio for all the Capetonians, who for one reason or another could not make the party the night before. With sore heads, but huge enthusiasm, we showed off the new equipment and answered lots of questions regarding the consoles and the moving heads.
Finally, on the 30th May, we moved into Atlas Studios in Johanesburg for the last two days of the road show. We were supported by a vast array of clients and friends, both old and new. Overall, the road show generated huge amounts of interest and support throughout the Provinces. We were incredibly lucky with the turnout we received - a new Movievision tradition!!.
