Lighting Designer Ed Warren has been out on the road in 2011 with ChamSys MagicQ splitting his time between Mumford & Sons, Metronomy and Interpol.

For the bigger shows he used a MagicQ MQ100 Pro2010 with 2 x MagicQ Playback Wings whilst for the smaller shows he used his own MagicQ PC wing.

For Mumford & Sons, Ed used a combination of Sunstrips, Jarags, Skypans, Moles, Festoons, Mac IIIs, Fresnels. A lot of festoons were strung over the stage and out over the crowd. The skypans weredotted around the set whislt he used a wall of Jarags along the back to create a traditional, incandescent looking show.  Lighting for the tour was supplied by Christie Lites

For the Interpol USA tour 2011 LD Ed Warren called on the Chamsys PC Wing to do the job.  Using Mac301s, MR16 strips, Atomic 3000 strobes, VL3500 spots, based around 6 x upright towers behind the band. The set was Dark, moody, smoky, and intense at times.

For Metronomy he used a rig of Clay Paky Sharpies, Mac Auras, Atomic 3000 strobes, Clay Paky Alpha spot 700 on 6 small towers in amongst the band. The set was precise, futuristic, and had a hot & cold feel.

Ed Warren comments:  For smaller tours it’s just so easy to rock up to a venue, plug my desk in, morph my show into the rig, adjust the palettes when needed. It’s almost a little too easy. I feel like i’m cheating. For the larger tours I find it a pleasure programming. The absolute lack of niggles and annoying glitches really helps. And the built in pixelmapper has opened up a whole new world of possibilities, to which my imagination is the only limit.
